Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef stock or beef bone broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/8 tsp cracked black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a small heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to foam. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk constantly for 2 minutes until the roux reaches a rich, golden-brown color.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low. Slowly pour in the beef broth, approximately 1/2 cup at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition to maintain a smooth paste before adding more liquid.
  3. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder. Bring to a gentle simmer for 3-5 minutes until the gravy thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
