Ingredients:

  • 3 (15 oz) cans cut canned green beans (Drained and rinsed)
  • 2 slices bacon, diced
  • ½ large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup chicken or vegetable broth

Instructions:

  1. Drain and thoroughly rinse the canned green beans under cold water for at least 60 seconds to remove excess brine and metallic flavor. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, render the diced bacon over medium-high heat until crisp. Remove the crisp bacon bits and reserve them, leaving the rendered fat in the pan.
  3. Add the sliced onion to the bacon fat and sauté for 2-3 minutes until soft and beginning to caramelize. Add the minced garlic and butter, cooking until the garlic is fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  4. Add the drained and rinsed green beans and the ¼ cup of broth to the skillet. Increase heat to high and toss rapidly for 1-2 minutes, allowing the beans to heat through and absorb the flavor base.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with the reserved crisp bacon bits.
