Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/3 cup (65g) packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) fine sea salt
- 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar using a whisk or fork until pale and fluffy.
- Stir in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and glossy.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Fold together using a spatula until no streaks of flour remain.
- Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and place 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake 10-11 minutes until edges are deep golden brown and centers remain slightly soft.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, and let rest on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
