Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup (65g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar using a whisk or fork until pale and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  4. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Fold together using a spatula until no streaks of flour remain.
  6. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and place 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake 10-11 minutes until edges are deep golden brown and centers remain slightly soft.
  9. Remove from oven, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, and let rest on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
