Ingredients:
- 12 large eggs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 6 black olives
- 1 medium carrot
- 2 tbsp black food coloring
- 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
Instructions:
- Place eggs in a single layer in a pot and cover with cold water by one inch. Bring to a rolling boil, then immediately remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
- Transfer eggs immediately to an ice water bath for 5 minutes to ensure shells slip off easily and prevent a green ring around the yolk.
- Slice the chilled eggs lengthwise and scoop yolks into a bowl.
- Press the yolks through a fine-mesh sieve to ensure a grit-free texture.
- Whisk in the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and pale yellow.
- Transfer the filling to a piping bag and pipe the mixture into the egg white cavities, creating a slight mound.
- Decorate with sliced black olives for spiders, thin carrot rounds for eyeballs, black food coloring for webs, and black sesame seeds for insect textures. Garnish with smoked paprika.
