Ingredients:

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 6 black olives
  • 1 medium carrot
  • 2 tbsp black food coloring
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pot and cover with cold water by one inch. Bring to a rolling boil, then immediately remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  2. Transfer eggs immediately to an ice water bath for 5 minutes to ensure shells slip off easily and prevent a green ring around the yolk.
  3. Slice the chilled eggs lengthwise and scoop yolks into a bowl.
  4. Press the yolks through a fine-mesh sieve to ensure a grit-free texture.
  5. Whisk in the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and pale yellow.
  6. Transfer the filling to a piping bag and pipe the mixture into the egg white cavities, creating a slight mound.
  7. Decorate with sliced black olives for spiders, thin carrot rounds for eyeballs, black food coloring for webs, and black sesame seeds for insect textures. Garnish with smoked paprika.
