Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (113g)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed (150g)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (250g)
  • 1 tsp baking soda (5g)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (3g)
  • 1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (85g)
  • 1/2 cup mini M&M's (85g)

Instructions:

  1. Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar together until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating for another 60 seconds until the mixture resembles a smooth, light-brown frosting.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt; stir gently using a spatula just until no streaks of white flour remain.
  4. Fold in the mini chocolate chips and mini M&Ms by hand.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes until edges are light golden brown but centers still look slightly soft.
  7. Let the cookies rest on the hot pan for 5 minutes to firm up via carry-over cooking.
