Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup (150g) granulated white sugar
  • 0.75 cup (150g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs (100g)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) fine sea salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a stand mixer, beat the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar on medium-high for 3–5 minutes until the texture is pale and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until the emulsion is smooth and glossy.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and fine sea salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed. Mix until just combined and no streaks of dry flour remain.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips or chosen assorted add-ins by hand using a silicone spatula.
  6. Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to stabilize the fats and deepen the flavor.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Portion the dough into rounded tablespoons and place on lined baking sheets with 2 inches of spacing.
  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are golden brown. Let rest on the hot pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
