Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 0.75 cup (150g) granulated white sugar
- 0.75 cup (150g) light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs (100g)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5g) baking soda
- 1 teaspoon (6g) fine sea salt
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- In a stand mixer, beat the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar on medium-high for 3–5 minutes until the texture is pale and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until the emulsion is smooth and glossy.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and fine sea salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed. Mix until just combined and no streaks of dry flour remain.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips or chosen assorted add-ins by hand using a silicone spatula.
- Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to stabilize the fats and deepen the flavor.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Portion the dough into rounded tablespoons and place on lined baking sheets with 2 inches of spacing.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are golden brown. Let rest on the hot pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
