Ingredients:
- 5 lbs (680 g) Ground Turkey (93% lean or higher)
- 1 large (300 g) cooked, peeled, and mashed Sweet Potato
- 1 cup (75 g) Fresh Spinach, finely chopped
- 1 large Egg
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) Low-Sodium Chicken Broth (unsalted)
- 1/4 cup (30 g) Oat Flour (or finely ground rolled oats)
- 1 Tbsp (15 ml) Chia Seeds
- 1 tsp (5 ml) Ground Turmeric (optional dash of black pepper)
- 1 Tbsp (15 ml) Cold-Pressed Salmon or Sardine Oil
- 1 Tbsp (15 ml) Nutritional Yeast (optional)
Instructions:
- Pre-Cook the Starch: Pierce the sweet potato several times and bake (or microwave) until completely soft. Allow it to cool slightly, then peel and mash thoroughly.
- Preheat & Prep Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease the standard 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Mix Binders: In a large bowl, whisk the egg and chicken broth together. Stir in the oat flour and chia seeds; let stand for 5 minutes to allow the chia seeds to begin absorbing liquid.
- Incorporate Solids: Add the ground turkey, mashed sweet potato, and finely chopped spinach to the binder mixture.
- Add Therapeutics: Sprinkle in the turmeric (and a tiny pinch of black pepper, if using), nutritional yeast, and gently pour in the salmon/fish oil.
- Mix Thoroughly: Using your hands or a sturdy spoon, combine all ingredients until fully incorporated. Mix only until no streaks of plain meat or sweet potato remain.
- Form the Loaf: Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared loaf pan. Ensure the top is relatively smooth and flat.
- Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches a safe 165°F (74°C) at the center. The loaf should be firm to the touch and lightly browned.
- Cool Completely: Remove the loaf from the oven and allow it to rest in the pan for 15 minutes. Invert the loaf onto a cooling rack and let it cool completely—this takes about 90 minutes. Do not slice while warm.
- Weigh and Slice: Once cool, use a kitchen scale to weigh the entire loaf. Divide the total weight by 10 (or your desired number of portions) to calculate the precise weight of each daily meal portion. Slice the loaf accordingly.
- Storage: Store sliced portions in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze immediately for long-term storage (up to 3 months).
