Ingredients:
- 750 ml dry red wine
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 3 star anise pods
- 1 large organic orange, sliced into thick rounds
- 2 tbsp raw honey
Instructions:
- Place the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and star anise at the bottom of a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven.
- Pour the 750 ml bottle of dry red wine over the fruit and spices to allow them to hydrate as the liquid warms.
- Set the heat to low. Monitor the liquid until wisps of steam rise (approximately 170°F), taking care not to let it reach a rolling boil.
- Maintain the low heat for 20 minutes while the wine develops a mahogany-colored hue and aromatic spice profile.
- Turn off the heat and stir in the raw honey until fully dissolved.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into heat-proof mugs for serving.
