Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 28 oz crushed San Marzano tomatoes
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn by hand
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Add the olive oil and sliced garlic to a cold pot. Turn the heat to medium and sauté for 2–3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and translucent.
  2. Stir in the red pepper flakes for the final 30 seconds of sautéing.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine your Marinara Sauce.
  4. Increase heat to bring the sauce to a gentle bubble, then immediately reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes until the sauce thickens and turns a deep red.
  5. Remove the pot from heat. Stir in the torn fresh basil and lemon juice to finish the Marinara Sauce.
