Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 28 oz crushed San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn by hand
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions:
- Add the olive oil and sliced garlic to a cold pot. Turn the heat to medium and sauté for 2–3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and translucent.
- Stir in the red pepper flakes for the final 30 seconds of sautéing.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine your Marinara Sauce.
- Increase heat to bring the sauce to a gentle bubble, then immediately reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes until the sauce thickens and turns a deep red.
- Remove the pot from heat. Stir in the torn fresh basil and lemon juice to finish the Marinara Sauce.
